The United States
Department of Education has issued new guidelines on implementing certain parts
of No Child Left Behind in a document called
Raising Achievement: A New Path for No Child Left Behind.
The Department also issued
new guidelines
about testing students with
disabilities and will now allow a new category of students called
"students with persistent academic disabilities."
States may now develop modified academic
achievement standards and use alternate assessments based on those modified
achievement standards for these students.
